160,000 Trees To Be Planted By Saugeen Conservation

Saugeen Conservation is ready to 'put down roots' in the next few weeks. A delivery of over 160,000 trees is expected.

Saugeen Conservation's Manager of Forestry, Jim Penner says over 90,000 of the trees will be planted through the Trees Ontario 50 Million Tree Program, which offers incentives to landowners to plant trees.

The Forestry Department will also be working with landowners on woodlot services and coordinating the Managed Forest Tax Incentive Programs or MFTIP.

Landowners who have their property classified as ‘managed forest’ pay only 25 per cent of the municipal tax rate for residential properties under MFTIP.

Plans are approved by Certified Plan Approvers, such as the staff at Saugeen Conservation.
