Feline Adopt A Thon In Clarksburg Today

Cat lovers looking to adopt a feline friend who's been spayed or neutered, should head to Clarksburg, Saturday afternoon, to find a pet for a reasonable price.

The volunteers with the Clarksburg Cat Shelter are holding an 'Adopt-a-thon' at the Shelter in downtown Clarksburg between 1:00 and 4:00 p.m. (May 23).

Shelter board member Joanne Nischan (KNEE- shawn) says the goal of the Adopt-a-thon is to find a loving ‘forever home’ for as many of the Shelter's 49 cats as possible.

Nischan says the Shelter’s lease expires before the end of October.

Nischan says the price for adopting a cat will vary from $25 for an older cat to $50 for a younger one with a few cats costing more.

Board member Kathie DeCoste, reports that all the cats are adults and all have been spayed or neutered.

"Once you've decided on the ‘fur-ever’ friend you plan to adopt, the Shelter will arrange to get its vaccinations updated and give it a health checkup." "Some cats would love to snuggle up with your cats. Others would rather be your one-and-only."

Volunteers will be setting out a table of cookies and other baked goods for visitors' enjoyment.

All the baked goodies have been graciously donated by local businesses.
