Perth Huron United Way Looks For Programs to Fund

The United Way Perth Huron is calling on charitable organizations to express interest in funding.

The United Way Perth Huron is open for business over the next six weeks to put their new community impact plan into action.

They're looking for partners who are in the best position to improve the future of their communities.

The expressions of interest should focus on three priorities: "From Poverty to Possibility," All that Kids Can Be," or Strong Communities."

Executive Director Ryan Erb says the United Way is moving towards funding programs through a collective impact framework.

He says they can still fund a single program, but the focus will be on wider issues, and collaborations.

Support will be divided into three investment streams.

Youth in Action Grants are one year initiatives driven by youth, for youth.

New Initiative Grants are one year funding plans provided to create, expand or test a new program.

And Impact Funding Grants are for 3 years to partners who will align with the new community impact plan.

The United Way hopes the three year funding model will provide greater stability to partners, and allow them to better measure the impact of the investment.

Meanwhile, Perth Wellington MPP Randy Pettapiece has congratulated the United Way of Perth Huron for raising over $1.5 million during this year's campaign.

Pettapiece says co-chairs Wayne Smith and Police Chief John Bates did an outstanding job.

He says, “I would also like to offer a special thank you to the residents of Perth and Huron counties. Your outstanding generosity funds the United Way’s important community initiatives. We’re fortunate to be part of a community that supports local needs, and is so willing to give back.  To Ryan Erb and the United Way team – thank you for everything you contribute to our communities. Your leadership means a great deal to so many great causes.”

Pettapiece delivered a special statement in the Ontario legislature yesterday to recognize the United Way Perth-Huron's Spirit of Community Celebration.

He told the legislature that the leadership of the United Way team supports many great causes.
