North Huron Blocks Portion of Guelph to Goderich Trail

North Huron council found problems with the reports that all stretches of Guelph to Goderich Trail will be opened in July.

Part of the rail trail goes through the former Morris Township and is not currently maintained by North Huron, which holds the lease on the land.

North Huron considers the section to be unsafe for public use as a trail, and decided to mark it closed temporarily until it gets clarification from the its insurance company.

The stretch of trail in question near Blyth is not considered part of the current Greenway trail that goes through the village.

Council determined that it is a potential liability to not mark the stretch of trail as closed in the event someone was hurt. Signs will be posted to show where the temporary closure is in effect.
