Mountain Bikes Stolen in Owen Sound

Owen Sound police are searching for three suspects after several high-end mountain bikes and other equipment were stolen from sheds.

The break-ins occurred late Friday night or early Saturday morning. One locked shed was forced open in the 1200 block of 4th Avenue East. The value of the three stolen mountain bikes is estimated to be $6,500.

Another shed was forced open in the 1000 block of 4th Avenue East. Stolen items included several chainsaws, a compressor, angle grinder and an impact wrench.

Just after 5:00 Saturday morning a patrol officer spotted three males in the area of 10th Street and 3rd Avenue East. These males were carrying duffle bags and chainsaws.

As the officer approached, they quickly fled on foot. One suspect was spotted throwing something into a garbage container in the 900 block of 3rd Avenue East. Police found one of the chainsaws and the impact wrench in the container.

It's believed that one, or all three suspects may live near the down town area of Owen Sound, or have a location near the down town core where they can quickly hide their stolen property. The stolen bikes are listed as a brown Rocky Mountain ETSX30, a black Rocky Mountain Slayer SXC30, and a lime green Schwinn MOAB.
