Charges Laid In February Crash In Holmesville

Charges have been laid to the driver and passenger of a minivan from a serious crash in Huron County that sent three young children to hospital.

Back on February 21st in Holmesville police say the driver of a westbound minivan made a left hand turn off of Hwy. 8 onto Parr Line in front of an eastbound pickup which hit the passenger side of the van.

Officers on scene found an eight year old female passenger that was ejected from the mini-van and a five year old female passenger that was partially ejected from the mini-van. A three-year-old boy was found in the vehicle.

Huron County OPP says investigation has determined that the driver and passenger were not wearing seat belts while the three young passengers were also not properly restrained in the vehicle.

The driver of the van faces several charges including failure to ensure toddler, child and passenger under 16 are properly secured. The passenger of the minivan is charged with failure to wear a seat belt.

The 8 year old girl involved in the crash remains in hospital at this time. All other injured occupants of the vehicles have been released
