Dinning Added To The Ontario Police Memorial's Wall Of Honour

Corporal Matthew Dinning has been honoured by the Ontario Police Memorial Foundation in their annual ceremony of remembrance at Queen's Park.

The Wingham-native was one of three names added to the charitable foundation's Wall of Honour at an event on Sunday afternoon.

Back in 2006, the 23-year-old was serving in the Canadian Military Police Branch in Afghanistan when he was killed by a roadside bomb.

"Matthew's father said he knew he wanted to serve abroad, and he also knew the risks that came with it," Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne said during the ceremony. "But he felt a strong desire to represent his country and provide a helping hand where he was needed most. That's just what he had the opportunity to do in Afganistan."

According to the presenters, Dinning's parents and brother were present at the ceremony.
