Rainbarrel And Rain Garden Workshop Tonight In Exeter

The Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority is hosting a workshop on rain barrels and rain gardens tonight in Exeter.

Healthy Watershed Technician Hope Brock explains rain barrels are an effective tool in capturing rain water and preventing it from rushing off the land towards the lake.

She points out. that reduces pollution in the lake as well as erosion on the land and also saves money by diverting water from municipal treatment plants.

Brock also explains a rain garden is a garden in a slightly depressed area rather than a raised flowerbed and that also helps to hold water and then plants can be planted in the area or rocks can be placed there.

The 'Tame the Rain' workshop is tonight at Miller's Country Store at 37 Thames Road in Exeter at 7 o'clock.
