Meaford Eco Fair Gains Popularity

One of the organizers of the Re-Use and Eco Fair in Meaford last weekend is already predicting more space may be needed next year.

Lindy Iversen reports that hundreds of items, weighing around 1,790 lbs were donated at the fair for re-use.

Volunteers sorted them for pickup by other members of the Earth Week planning group. They also had 33 vendors selling products or services related to preserving or improving the environment.

Iversen predicts they may have to rent part of the arena floor next year, because of the growing popularity of the Re-Use and Eco-Fair.

Meaford’s recreational programs supervisor Amber Knott says organizers conducted an informal attendance count of visitors to the fair.

"We counted at least 100 people attended this year’s Re-Use and Eco Fair, but there were probably many more visitors to the Fair than those counted," says Knott.
