Bruce Power's new Environmental Fund will help Saugeen Valley Conservation restore fish habitat in the North Saugeen.
The Lockerby Dam Decomissioning plan will see the removal of the dam, and the rehabilitation of the pond, and surrounding area to a natural state.
That means migrating salmon and other species to pass through, and will help maintain cooler water temperatures.
The SVCA says The Lockerby Dam has not supplied power to Paisley since 1923 and is a barrier to fish migration along the North Saugeen River.
Work on the Lockerby Dam Project is scheduled to begin this summer. The $400,000. Environmental Fund will assist with various community driven environmental projects.
