Bluewater Expands Community Improvement Plan

The Municipality of Bluewater has decided to expand its Community Improvement Plan.

Mayor Tyler Hessel explains they've had a CIP program in Hensall for four years and it's been very effective in encouraging business owners to improve the appearance of the buildings, so it was felt it was time to expand it to the other settlement areas of Bluewater.

Hessel explains the communities of Bayfield, Zurich, and Hensall as well as Blake, Varna and Brucefield all submitted suggestions. Staff will use those proposals to create a draft plan that will be presented to council later in April.

Hessel points out the Community Improvement Plan would be the same as the existing plan in Hensall and would cover 50 per cent of projects like facade improvement, up to a maximum of $5,000, and that would include commercial and residential heritage buildings.

The areas affected have been mapped out and Hessel says there have been some revisions to the original mapping. The mapping is available on the Bluewater municipal web site.
