Meaford Chamber Hands Out Annual Awards

Meaford's Scarecrow Invasion and Family Festival took home the Tourism Award at the Meaford Chamber of Commerce Community Dinner and Awards night.

All awards presented to the winners at the dinner Saturday night were for their contributions to Meaford in 2014.

Chamber president Dan White said the Chamber received 95 nominations for the seven awards, 20 more than last year.

‘Head Scarecrow' Marilyn Morris thanks volunteers with the Scarecrow Invasion and Family Festival for their 'tremendous work' which helped the group win the Tourism Award for 2014.

The owner and staff of Eggcitement Bistro won the Customer Service Award while The Most Improved Business Award for 2014 went to Georgian Bay Physiotherapy.

David Glass and Chris Davies of Muxlow Pharmacy shared the honours of winning the Business Owner of the Year Award.

Nicholas Shaut, owner of Bighead Hops, received the Agribusiness Award for his development of innovative crops.

The four local gardens of Meaford Community Gardens were the winners of the Special Merit Award.

Mary Solomon was the winner the Peter Francis Memorial Award for her outstanding leadership in many local projects and as an inspiration to all volunteers.
