London Driver Charged With Impaired In Huron County

Thanks to a call from a concerned citizen, Huron County OPP were able to get an impaired driver off the road this morning.

Officers got the call about 9 a.m. reporting a Dodge Ram pickup truck travelling southbound on Bluewater Veterans Highway in a dangerous manner.

Officers located the suspect vehicle about 15 minutes later on Zion Road.

An officer followed the vehicle a short distance, and then pulled the driver over at the corner of Zion Road and Lucknow Line.

In speaking with the driver, the officer was able to determine the driver had been drinking and further investigation revealed the driver was displaying several signs that he was impaired by alcohol.

The driver was placed under arrest and a subsequent search of the vehicle turned up a prohibited weapon commonly known as a “flick” knife.

The driver was taken to the Huron OPP Detachment where two breath samples registered over the legal limit.

As a result, a 30-year-old London man has been charged with impaired driving, driving a vehicle with over 80 milligrams of alcohol in his blood, dangerous driving and unauthorized possession of a weapon.

He also received an automatic 90 day driver’s licence suspension and his pickup truck was impounded for seven days.
