Alliston Sends Series To Game Six

The Alliston Hornets have forced another game in their Schmalz Cup quarterfinals against the Walkerton Hawks. Walkerton goes down 6-3 at home and see their 3-1 series lead become 3-2.

Early on it was all Walkerton as the hosts put on the pressure and scored the only goal of the period. Jay Thomson found Calvin Penney who put away a hard shot for a 1-0 lead for the hosts into the intermission.

Out of the break the Hornets turned it up drawing a penalty right out of the gate. On that early power play Connor Annett tipped home a point shot to make even the score. Penney would however manage to put the Hawks back in the lead, also on the powerplay.

Those power play goals would set up a high scoring period. Nic Archibald and Tanner Dockerty would put Alliston ahead by one before Brooks Nelthorpe evened things back up. The tie would be broken not long after with Steve Griggs tipping in an Alliston point shot for a 4-3 lead for the visitors into the third.

Walkerton would get back to controlling the play in the third, but a brief breakdown put things out of reach. Nick Arcan found himself with space and put Alliston up 2 late in the third. They would add an empty netter to force a game 6 in the series.

With a 3-2 series lead, Walkerton heads into Alliston for a 7:30pm start. You can listen to that game live on CKNX, CKNX.ca and the Blackburn Radio app.
