The federal Conservative candidate for Perth-Wellington joined Wellington North residents at an informal coffee hour Saturday in Mount Forest to chat with supporters, local residents, and community leaders.
John Nater told the gathering that while much is being made about a possible battle of personalities between federal party leaders in Ottawa, he feels the focus of this campaign will ultimately rest on the candidates’ ability to personally connect with residents.
Raised on a farm outside Mitchell, Nater has served as a West Perth Councillor as well as an advisor to both federal and provincial parliamentarians since 2003. He is currently a Lecturer in Canadian politics at King’s University College at Western University in London.
Nater said he is proud of the accomplishments of the Conservative government under the leadership of Prime Minister Stephen Harper in guiding Canada through a difficult global economic downturn and the many difficult realities at home and abroad.
