Owen Sound Quota Club Makes Donation

Two initiatives spearheaded by the Owen Sound Police Service have received the proceeds from a successful Christmas program.

Quota International of Owen Sound donated $1,000 to the police service, which came from their annual Christmas Holiday Tour of Homes.

The KIDS Program and the Law Enforcement Torch Run each received $500.

The KIDS Program is provided to every Grade 6 student in the city and teaches children about the dangers of drugs, alcohol, and tobacco in addition to peer relations and internet safety.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run raises money and awareness for Special Olympics Ontario. The Quota Club donation will be used to help send an athlete to the Floor Hockey Provincial Championships in Ottawa this May.

Owen Sound Police Community Services Officer Mike Dazé stated in a news release that, "the Owen Sound police are very appreciative of the Quota Club’s donation. The KIDS Program is sustained through fundraising and donations such as this allow us to buy the necessary materials."
