Meaford Adopts Budget

Meaford residents will pay less than one per cent more on their property taxes this year.

Meaford council voted unanimously to adopt the 2015 budget.

Treasurer Darcy Chapman told council that while Meaford’s share of the added tax levy would be just above 1.3 per cent, the blended rate increase would only be eight tenths of a per cent.

Meaford’s 2015 budget includes increases in capital spending on roads and bridges. However, none of the $4-million in capital spending will increase Meaford’s debt load which now stands at $9-million and is being reduced each year.
