Markdale Hospital Plans Move Forward

The multi-million-dollar hospital project for Markdale is moving forward.

Grey Bruce Health Services has made its Stage 2 submission to the Health Ministry. That includes information such as patient volumes, types of patients, and ER requirements.

Hospital CEO Lance Thurston says the ministry has promised a response by the end of March. Once there's agreement, detailed blueprints will be drafted.

Thurston hopes the shovel will go in the ground for the new Markdale hospital in 2017.

Thurston adds Health Minister Eric Hoskins appears to be behind the project.

"Clearly the message has been given to the ministry that the minister wants this thing moving and wants to get it approved before the end of his term and we're very appreciate of that," he says.
