Dundalk And Palmerston Roads Renamed

Roads in Dundalk and Palmerston will soon have new names.

Southgate has approved the naming of a road in honour of a past reeve of Dundalk. The road in the White Rose subdivision in Dundalk will be known as Todd Cres. in memory of past reeve Sam Todd.

Six other reeves have already been honoured with a road name, and Minto is considering naming a road in the Palmerston Industrial Park after Palmerston’s only native son to serve in the Boer War.

Arthur Leith Ross graduated from Canada’s Royal Military College and stowed away on a ship headed for the African Boer War. On his arrival he was made a sergeant.

Minto has a policy of naming new streets in honour of local war veterans.
