Grey County OPP Investigate Two Cases of Fraud

Grey County OPP are investigating two fraud reports from area residents.

A Grey Highlands resident immediately cancelled his credit card after a charge of $2,500 appeared from Air Canada for a flight he didn’t book. The credit card company is investigating the fraud.

A Meaford resident unplugged her computer after she had given an unknown person, posing as a Microsoft representative, remote access to her computer to fix a virus, and realizing it was a scam.

Police remind residents that fraud is a serious international problem and urge residents to protect themselves by learning to recognize fraud.

Also a report today from a listener in Palmerston who received a call this afternoon from someone claiming to be from Canadian Tire and asking for him to confirm the account number on the new card sent to him.

He called their bluff and hung up.
