Kincardine Property Crime Up 16 Per Cent

Residents in the Kincardine area are being asked to be on the lookout for anything or anyone that looks suspicious.

OPP Staff Sergeant Wayne Thompson says there is a disproportionate amount of property crime in South Bruce detachment area, and the detachment needs to engage the public to help.

Property crimes involve break and enter, theft over and under $5,000, motor vehicle theft, theft from a motor vehicle, possession of stolen goods, fraud, mischief, identity theft and fraud.

The property crime rate in the Kincardine area has increased 16 percent over last year. It's higher than Brockton, Arran-Elderslie, South Bruce and Huron-Kinloss.

"We are the police," Thompson said. "The police are the community and we have to work together."
