Bruce Power Reflects On Successful 2014

Bruce Power is celebrating many accomplishments this year.

Bruce B was the top performing multi-unit CANDU plant in the world, and was presented with an international award. Unit 5 surpassed 500 days of continuous operation.

Bruce A achieved its first full calendar year of four-unit operation since the units were removed from service in the 1990s.

The eight CANDU reactors provided over 30 per cent of Ontario’s energy, at 30 per cent less than the average cost of electricity.

"Every day, our employees use innovative techniques and made-in-Ontario technologies to produce safe, reliable and carbon-free electricity for the people of the province, and we are committed to continuing this over the long term," said Duncan Hawthorne, President and CEO.

The company invested over $200 million into its reactors during three planned maintenance outages. The maintenance investment programs help to increase the reliability and extend the life of the units.
