Talisman Resort Reopens Next Year

The Talisman resort in the Beaver Valley should reopen in about six to seven months.

It's new owner says work is proceeding well. Brian Ellis and a group of investors bought the property from Grey Highlands in a tax sale.

The entire complex had been empty for several years.

Ellis says they're spending well over $5-million on the project.

They're adding a whole new spa and will reopen the golf course. And they're gutting and redoing the main lodge.

"I still want that lodge feel, that inn feel, but just updating it to some really nice finishes and a lot more pizzazz," says Ellis.

The plan is to have the grand reopening on Canada Day 2015.

"My goal is July 1. I want to be able to celebrate Canada Day on the front lawn of Talisman with all the residents and have a really good celebration," he says.

The group will not reopen the ski hills but Ellis says they're working on a deal with the nearby Beaver Valley Ski Club so guests can ski there.

He says it will not be called Talisman and they expect to announce the new name early in the new year.
