New North Perth Council Gets to Work

With less funding coming in from the upper tiers of government, North Perth's new council says the 2015 budget is priority number one.

Re-elected Mayor Julie Behrns and company gave their declaration of office last night, prepared to battle with around 400-thousand dollars in provincial partnership cutbacks, along with increasing costs.

Mayor Behrns says she has confidence in her experienced council as they look ahead to 2015 budget meetings.

She added that every year council scrutinizes heavily to make sure everything is in order when it comes time to vote on the budget.

"Like any other year we go through it(the budget) line by line, breaking it down and this time will be no different." Behrns said after the meeting.

There are also things council is excited about. Behrns says there is potential for more growth in the municipality and it is important for council to think towards the future over the next four years.
