Wind Hearing Wraps Up In London

By: Christian Aumell

After four days of lawyers submissions, an appeal hearing on the future of wind projects in Huron-Bruce has ended in a London courtroom.

The beginning of the day belonged to lawyers representing the three major wind projects being challenged.

A lawyer for the K-2 project near Goderich says it must be proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that the projects will cause harm, rather than purely speculate about the possible effects of government action.

Another lawyer representing the Armow turbine project near Kincardine suggests media articles containing "fright factors" regarding wind turbines could be a contributing factor to community annoyance.

The day ended with the lawyer representing the four families from Huron and Bruce who are challenging wind projects. Julian Falconer asked the panel to protect citizens and called the panel the "guardians of the people."

The three-man panel advised those in the London courtroom that they will come to a decision in a timely manner, but would not rush to judgment.
