Local Driving Conditions Improve - Icy Tomorrow?

Weather and driving conditions have improved a great deal in just a few hours.

That band of heavy snow that moved over parts of Bruce, Huron, Perth and northern Wellington county overnight has run out of energy. There's only light snow falling in a few spots this morning.

Major routes are track-bare with snowpacked and slushy sections. Secondary roads are snowcovered, snowpacked and drifted in spots.

A snow squall warning remains in effect for northern Bruce County and the peninsula.  All other watches and warnings have been cancelled.

However,  a special weather statement from Environment Canada warns of possible freezing rain Saturday for parts of midwestern Ontario.

Current predictions suggest this disturbance will bring total precipitation amounts of less than 5 mm, with much of that falling as rain or drizzle rather than freezing rain.

Drivers and pedestrians should be prepared for hazardous conditions Saturday morning and midday, as untreated surfaces may become icy and slippery.
