DGR Questioned At Brockton All Candidates Debate

A packed Victoria Jubilee Hall in Walkerton greeted candidates for the Brockton all candidates meeting.

Members of the public questioned incumbents and challengers on Walkerton being a possible site for a deep geologic repository for nuclear waste.

Challenger and former mayor Charlie Bagnato says he would never support a DGR in Walkerton.

“The only caveat is money, you can’t pay me enough to compromise the safety of the citizens,” he says.

Current mayor David Inglis says it won’t happen if it is not what the people want, but there is still more to learn about the topic.

“We’re in the learn more stage and have not made a commitment to anything,” says¬†Inglis.

Online and telephone polls in Brockton open on Monday, October 20.
