Huron OPP Issue Marijuana Harvest WarningSeptember 15, 2014 11:00am
The OPP are warning local residents that it’s harvest time for those growing illegal marijuana crops.
Police are trying to get a jump on the growers. A recent marijuana eradication project involved Huron County OPP, the RCMP, West Grey Police Services, Saugeen Shores Police Service, and the Canadian Forces.
By sharing information, they identified 14 illegal grow sites in Huron County and destroyed over 18 hundred plants.
Marijuana crops are usually located in corn fields, swamps, wooded areas, along rivers and in isolated areas on large rural properties.
Police ask residents to call them first, if you suspect you know where an illegal crop is. It is unsafe to confront a marijuana grower, and some plots can be guarded or booby trapped.
