Grey Bruce Energy Audits For Low Income FamiliesSeptember 12, 2014 5:52am
With energy costs going through the roof, utility companies in Grey Bruce are helping lower income families reduce their costs.
Eligible households will receive an energy audit and then work is done to help people lower their hydro bills. That could be adding insulation to the basement or attic and around doors and windows.
Union Gas, Westario Power and Hydro One are working with the Bruce Grey United Way on the initiative.
Executive Director Francesca Dobbyn (DOBBIN) says there’s no cost to the client. The program is open to both owners of properties and renters.
“A genuine effort by the utility companies to help people lower the bills. Grey Bruce is home to some of the oldest housing stock in Ontario and that becomes a problem,” she says.
