DGR On Lake Huron A ‘Threat to The Great Lakes’

Sarnia Mayor Mike Bradley says he views the possible burying of nuclear waste on the Lake Huron shoreline as the number one threat to the Great Lakes.

Bradley spoke at the recent Is the Coast Clear Conference in Grand Bend.

He noted that it might have been easier for people living around the Great Lakes to accept if an extensive search throughout North America had been done and it was determined that the shores of Lake Huron afforded the ideal location for a nuclear waste depository.

Bradley points out that wasn’t done and because of that there’s a lot of opposition to the possiblity.

Bradley adds 40-million Canadians and Americans get their drinking water from Lake Huron, noting it’s a fragile system with no plan to recover from a disaster quickly.
