Huron Kinloss Residents Disinterested In Nuclear Waste Storage

The interest in a proposed nuclear waste underground facility in Huron-Kinloss Township appears to have diminished.

Mayor Mitch Twolan says he invited his office staff to attend last night’s Nuclear Waste Community Advisory Committee meeting, but no one showed up.

Twolan believes part of the reason for a lack of interested in the nuclear project is that this area is well informed because many residents work at the nearby Bruce Power plant. He adds, the number one priority for local residents is getting natural gas.

The effort by Huron-Kinloss, Kincardine and Arran-Elderslie to bring natural gas to the tri-areas has been pushing forward for the past two years.
