Huron County Homelessness InitiativeMarch 24, 2014 12:09pm
Huron County councillors have approved a new Community Homelessness Initiative Investment Plan with the province.
The program provides support for things like emergency housing for low-income families. This is the second year for the program. Last year’s budget was 301-thousand dollars, and this year’s is 314-thousand.
Housing Manager Barbara Hall points out the program has been stretched thin this year because of the long and cold winter, and so many people who are struggling with utility bills.
Hall says all of the money from last year’s program will be gone by the end of the fiscal year at the end of March. Families in need can get help by contacting Huron County social services.
