Bruce Grey Tech Students Test SkillsMarch 20, 2014 11:06am
Over 100 high school students enrolled in Tech Education courses in Bruce and Grey Counties will showcase their skills tomorrow in Owen Sound.
It’s the tenth annual Regional Skills Challenge. It involves 13 area high schools, 40 sponsors, 23 industry judges, 35 teacher/coaches and 20 volunteers.
The majority of the events are at Georgian College and St. Mary’s high school. Some of the top scoring students will advance to represent the area at regional challenges in April. Others will go directly to the 25th annual Ontario Technological Skills Competition in Waterloo this May.
This is an initiative of the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program. In the past, it has developed into skilled trades apprenticeship opportunities for students by potential employers.
