The South Bruce Grey Health Centre is challenging its employees to get their flu shot.
President and CEO Paul Rosebush was first in line this morning to receive the vaccine, courtesy of Grey-Bruce Medical Officer of Health, Doctor Hazel Lynn.
Rosebush says health care workers have a basic duty to do things like wash their hands to prevent the spread of germs, and the flu shot needs to be part of that effort to stop flu outbreaks before they begin.
He says about 50-percent of South Bruce Grey Health Centre’s employees typically receive the flu shot each year, but he says they are aiming to boost that number to 70-percent this year.
Rosebush says it’s becoming a friendly competition across their four hospitals to see who have the highest immunization rate, adding the winning hospital will receive free pizza.
