People in Meaford are being asked to use water sparingly this morning.
Environmental Services staff with the municipality are continuing to make repairs on a water main that broke yesterday leaving people in the urban and surrounding areas without water.
Officials say the main’s junction fitting gave way yesterday morning due to pressure and age. It was constructed in the 1950’s.
Repairs will begin at 9:00 this morning and after that people are told to use water only in an emergency so that there is enough water for the hospital and other care facilities.
The drinking water distribution centre is setup at the Meaford and St. Vincent Community Centre. It will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. A precautionary boil water advisory remains in effect.
