Environment Canada has now confirmed an F1 tornado touched down in the Shelburne area.
The twister with speeds of up to 167 km/hr hit last evening near highway 10 and Dufferin County Road 17 in Melancthon Township.
It first hit on the 7th line near County Road 17, pulling down hydro wires for several kilometres.
Then the twister tore off the east side of a barn on the 4th Line Southwest and knocked a tree on boat.
then a roof was torn off the barn near Highway 10 and County road 17.
Shelburne Resident Chris Hillier arrived on the scene moments after the tornado hit.
So far no persons or livestock were injured only property damage
