UPDATE: Missing Boater Found Dead In Owen Sound Harbour

Provincial police have recovered the body of a man who jumped into the waters of Georgian Bay and did not resurface.

Police received a call about 5:20pm Saturday afternoon concerning a missing man in the Owen Sound harbour.

Police say the man went in the water along with a friend to assist a family pet that had jumped from the boat. The man failed to surface. OPP confirm a body was pulled from the water in the Owen Sound harbour at 10:16am Monday morning.

The man has been identified by next of kin as 27-year-old Derick Henry of Cambridge.

The OPP Underwater Search and Rescue Unit was assisted by the Canadian Coast Guard, Canadian Forces Base Trenton, Grey County OPP Marine Unit, Owen Sound Fire Department and Grey County EMS in the search.
