B.S.R.A. Receives Shoreline Management Plan Update

The Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority presented an update on its proposed Shoreline Management Plan to members of the Bluewater Shoreline Ratepayers Association on the weekend.

Association President Sue Haskett doesn't believe the plan, as it's currently proposed, will please everyone, but she says it's something that most people will be able to live with.

Haskett says there will still be a question, "particularly about shoreline protection and the fact that they're going to need a coastal engineer involved with the project. But our opinion after being very close to this issue for more than a year is that we felt the only way they're going to be able to do it and be fair was to have a coastal engineer involved."

She felt the transparency of the conservation authority throughout the process gave people a chance to become more educated, and if it takes two years to get it done, it will be worth it.

The Shoreline Management Plan will still go through more public consultation before being approved.
