Not-For-Profits Benefit From Community Foundation Grey Bruce

Non-profit organizations in Grey and Bruce are benefiting from peoples' generosity through Community Foundation Grey Bruce.

The Foundation's Wendy Bachiu was in Hanover Wednesday to present cheques to four area groups.

Among them, the Grey Bruce Children's Water Festival organized by the Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority and the South Grey Bruce Literacy Council.

The S.V.C.A.'s Nancy Griffin says the $2,500 from the Community Foundation is important to their success.

"It's very important that we have sponsors like this to put this on so that it's available to all students across Grey and Bruce so that they all have the opportunity to learn during the day that they're there during the three-day festival," says Griffin.

Bachiu says they're proud to support local organizations.

"Community Foundation Grey Bruce is important to every community in Grey and Bruce Counties but in Hanover, we're supporting projects that may not get funded otherwise for the projects they do so we're glad to be able to help," she says.

Community Foundation Grey Bruce has provided close to $200,000 to 65 charitable organization in Grey Bruce this year.  Cheque presentations were made in Walkerton earlier in the day Wednesday.
