Huron County to Consider More Pedestrian Crossings

Huron County will be taking a look at several pedestrian crossing areas in the county as part of next year's budget deliberations.

The county recently had a delegation regarding the lack of pedestrian crossings anywhere in Blyth, but county engineer Steve Lund says there are several smaller centres in the county that don't have designated pedestrian crossing areas.

Lund agrees it is time to consider making changes to some of them and a report they present to council will be part of the 2019 budget deliberations.

"We will be reviewing the Blyth intersection as well as others within the county to look at the current infrastructure and some of the counts and come up with a plan to look at pedestrian crossings at those locations as part of the 2019 budget deliberation," he says. "Some of the smaller urban centres don't have a lot of traffic control and it's just the way it's been, so we are looking at trying to improve some of the pedestrian crossing areas, especially in communities like Blyth."
