South Bruce OPP Kept Busy During Reunion Weekend in Kincardine

The Kincardine Reunion 2018 was a busy weekend for members of the South Bruce OPP detachment.

During the event, 48 people were charged for open liquor and three were arrested for being in intoxicated in public.   One driver was arrested for impaired driving, two other drivers were served a driver's licence suspension for a warn range at a roadside check.  Officers also responded to five noise complaints.

South Bruce OPP marine officers were patrolling off the shores of Kincardine on Saturday, August 5, with members of the Coast Guard Auxiliary unit, to keep a watchful eye on the 'swim to the break-wall event.

During the course of the event, officers rescued five swimmers and returned another 17 exhausted swimmers to shore that were on the break-wall.

According to Sergeant Dave Hackney, the South Bruce OPP Marine Unit Coordinator, "It is absolutely imperative that you keep safety foremost in your mind and never attempt to swim beyond your ability. I'm glad that our members were on hand to conduct these rescues.   Too often we're called upon for a recovery in these situations".
