Huron's Burn Ban is Lifted; Others Still in Effect

The weekend may have been a washout but we got enough rain to lift the fire ban in Huron County.

In a release, the Huron County Fire Chiefs Association says the significant rainfall over the weekend and the forecasted conditions have made things much safer in Huron County to allow open-air burning.

Residents are still reminded to follow their local municipality's bylaws and procedures regarding open-air burning. Mapleton has also lifted their fire bans alongside Northern Bruce Peninsula, Owen Sound, and Minto.

Meanwhile, North Perth Fire tweeted this morning that the burn ban remains in effect there.

Perth East Fire also tweeted that its burn ban is still in effect despite the rain. Fire officials there are also urging farmers to use extreme caution when using equipment on fields.
