Hawks Try-Out Camp Set

The Walkerton Hawks of the PJHL Pollock Division have their upcoming tryout camp scheduled for July 30th at the Ayton arena.

GM Steve Barrett says that the team will have an impressive returning core on the ice this year with some exciting newcomers.

"I think it's 15 eligible to return," Barrett says, "will all 15 of those players return? No. We've got a couple of young guys signed in Jeremy Davidson and Owen Torrie who we feel are ready to step in and play big roles."

Barrett says they don't have any particular holes on the roster they're desperate to fill, and they have very basic criteria as far as players attending the camp in Ayton.

"The approach we've kind of sat down and decided we're going to go with is: the players that show us they want to be there,  that attend camp fully - and ya you have exceptions with summer sport commitments and work commitments - guys that show they want to play for us."

Barrett says he's confident the team will be successful with all their returning players and leaders that they have confirmed, including star goalie Matt Donnelly and his brother Justin who is team captain, as well as Spencer Elder up front and defensive bruiser Quinton Maddock.
