Canada's undefeated streak continued at the WBSC World Junior Men's Softball Championship in Saskatchewan as Teeswater's Mac Fischer led the team to a 10-0 win over Hong Kong in five innings.
Fischer struck out eight batters and allowed just one hit and also hit a triple and a home run, driving in two runs.
He felt it was his opportunity.
"I was waiting for my chance all week and once I got my chance I would have to make it worthwhile. So I tried to put the ball in play when I was at bat and make quality pitches when I was pitching."
Canada finished 5-0 in pool play and will face Australia in the playoffs tonight. Fischer says they are ready.
"We feel we have a pretty good chance against them. If we play like we have all week it will be a good game and hopefully come out on top."
Today's game against Australia is at 10 p.m. EST. The other key game in the championship bracket is Japan versus New Zealand.
