'Transfigured Town' Attempts World Record This Year

The Village of Blyth will be the site of a world record attempt later this year.

Transfigured Town Incorporated, the company behind the Harry Potter-themed Festival of Wizardry, has applied to the Guinness Book of World Records in an attempt to break the record for the world's largest scavenger hunt.

The current record was set in Ottawa last September as part of the Canada 150 celebrations held in Ottawa.

Transfigured Town President & CEO Nathan Swartz says, "while I was listening to the fella who organized [last year's record attempt], I thought wow, I think we already beat that record," describing the scavenger hunt held in Blyth's downtown last year.

Swartz says he contacted Guinness to acquire rules and guidelines that must be met for an official world record attempt, and are ready to take their shot on Saturday, September 22 during this year's Transfigured Town event at the Blyth campground.

Swartz estimates this year's scavenger hunt could double the current record of 2,732 set last year.
