Midwestern

A Hot Start To The Week

Many parts of Midwestern Ontario remain under a blanket of heat.

Environment Canada issued a heat warning on the weekend for southern Perth and southern Huron counties. This included Stratford, Mitchell, Goderich and Bluewater.

The warning continued into Monday but was ended around 6pm.

A southwesterly flow of hot and humid air continues. Daytime highs of 28 C to 30 C are expected Monday. The weather agency says humidex levels will feel like 37 C.

A cold front Monday afternoon could trigger thunderstorms and showers, and more seasonal weather will follow for Tuesday.

Environment Canada is reminding everyone that extreme heat can have a particularly negative impact on young children, the elderly, pregnant women, people suffering from chronic conditions and those who must work outdoors for long periods of time.

Never leave pets or people inside a parked vehicle during a heat wave, even with the windows down, and even for just a couple of minutes.
