More Local Full-Time And Part-Time Jobs In May

The unemployment rate for the Stratford-to-Bruce Peninsula Economic Region fell in May by 1.1 percentage points.

It was estimated to be 3.3% by the Four County Labour Market Planning Board. The provincial unemployment rate in May rose by 0.1% points to 5.8%.

Employment in the region increased by 2,700, due to increases in both full-time and part-time work.

Local economic highlights:  Bruce Power and the County of Bruce have partnered to establish the Ontario Nuclear Innovation Institute in Southampton as an international centre of excellence for applied research and training.

And the Province announced an investment of $10-million into a new community hub in Stratford’s Cooper Block site to expand affordable Housing, Child Care and Seniors Facilities.
