One World Festival Celebrates Grey-Bruce Diversity

The eighth annual One World Festival in Owen Sound celebrated the diversity of Grey Bruce.

The day-long event had participants from a wide variety of backgrounds in traditional dress telling stories, demonstrating arts and crafts and educating people about their backgrounds.

Children from all over Grey Bruce enjoyed the festivities and Organizer Colleen Purdon says they specifically address their message to the kids.

"No little kids are worried about skin colour or sexual orientation or anything they learn that from everybody else," says Purdon.

She adds the One World Festival not only demonstrates the inclusivity of Grey Bruce but is also meant to welcome newcomers to the area.

"The fact is that we're in a rural community with a declining population and we need we need people to come here and live here and we need people to stay here when they come," says Purdon.
