Pick-Up Stolen And Burned, Rifle Missing In Bruce Peninsula

Provincial police on the Bruce Peninsula have discovered a burned-out pickup truck and are investigating the theft of a rifle from the pickup.

The Dodge Ram pick-up was taken from a residence on Cameron Dr. late Monday night or early Tuesday morning.

Police found the truck Tuesday night on Neywash Dr. It had been destroyed by fire.

The vehicle owner reported that he had stored his Winchester lever action .22 calibre rifle under the seat. It had been secured with a cable lock around the lever and was in a black soft nylon case.

The firearm was not in the burned-out truck, and police believe it was removed before the vehicle was set on fire.

Anyone who could assist Bruce Peninsula OPP with this investigation or in locating the rifle is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers.
