Renovation Will Address Dust Problem At Goderich Elevators

Goderich councillors were brought up to date this week on a significant renovation being undertaken at Goderich Elevators.

Goderich C-A-O Larry McCabe explains the project involves removing the three loading towers they currently use and replace them with one state of the art loading mechanism, similar to the one they've installed at their Hamilton operation.

McCabe says new device would be slightly on town property and would require a new lease, but it's a small footprint just adjacent to Goderich Elevator property near the wharf, and says he understands the new loading device will be more efficient, speed up the loading process and help reduce dust that has been a recurring problem, particularly when they're loading corn.

McCabe says the cost to parent company Parrish and Heimbecker is over five million dollars.
